Aviation Strategy

~20,000 aircraft are currently suitable for retrofitting with battery-electric, hybrid-electric or hydrogen-electric propulsion technology

Build turboprop aircraft portfolio

MONTE’s management has been financing regional turboprop aircraft for over 20 years.

We lease aircraft to global operators who use their fleets for a variety of use cases and have deep relationships with aircraft operators around the world.

We are building a portfolio of turboprop aircraft operating under robust and long-term (often government-backed) contracts.

Decarbonize the turboprop market

MONTE is fully committed to the transition to aviation industry’s net zero carbon emissions. To decarbonize regional aviation, we are involved in two pathways: financing aircraft retrofit and clean sheet design.

For retrofit, MONTE is working with market-leading OEMs that are pioneering zero and low-emission propulsion technology, developing strong preferred lessor relationships.

Our current expectation is that the the technology to retrofit aircraft with these propulsion technologies will be approved and certified by 2025. This conversion is expected to provide significant cost savings across fuel, maintenance and other operational costs.

MONTE is technology agnostic as we want to provide lessees access to the best technology for their operations. Besides providing financing options for aircraft conversion, we will help clients find the right solution for them.

For clean sheet design, MONTE will look to leverage its existing relationships with OEMs and expertise in the market to finance and lease new, zero emission aircraft as they are developed and certified..

Finance necessary infrastructure for decarbonized aircraft

Each operator will require the right battery charging / hydrogen refueling infrastructure on its route network to ensure smooth operation of its aircraft.

MONTE will provide a full service package to aircraft operators to include financing the cost of the infrastructure required for operations

The movement of the aviation industry towards a net zero carbon future will require significant infrastructure investment across a range of areas, such as:

  • Battery charging facilities

  • Battery storage facilities

  • Hydrogen fuel cell storage

  • Electricity supply / connection to the grid

Ultimately, MONTE will provide turn-key solutions for operators including aircraft and infrastructure financing.
